A quick heads up to those that have chained their bikes to the bike rings over winter...The bike police are tagging your bikes with notes that advise that the bikes will be confiscated if not moved by a certain date...

...also, if some these bikes belong to people here...you should oil them as well

What happens in Toronto if you leave a U-lock attached to a bike ring, without a bike? Is it sure to get removed? I'd like to park a lock instead of toting it, for times when carrying the bike into my regular office building would be a problem.

I hope not...I leave a U-lock on the office fence

BTW...they took away the bikes over the weekend in the downtown area

Have you seen many of the new 'bike lockers' available to rent from the city?

I seen a bike locker at the Toronto International Bike show and it looked great! A large container to rent for a minimum of 4 months that was quite roomy. I wish they had them here in Hamilton.

Granted, I would suspect there is a very limited number of these units available and probably have a waiting list. They looked bulky which takes up lots of realestate, so I'm guessing you can't have to many at a single location.
