Mountain Biking - Got my first Mountain Bike :)

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
So after a few failed experiments from Ebay, I broke down and went and bought a new bike from the local Bike store, they were very Friendly and knowledgeable, I was just looking for something to get me started, I first test road the Trek 3700, i liked the stiffer feel of it but the gears didnt shift that great and the front shox were not adjustable, I finally settled on an '07 4300 in the Matte Silver finish, its pretty sweet:D . I plan on taking it out to Land Between the Lakes this weekend in KY. I added a Cat eye to it and look to put on some new pedals if anyone has any recomendations for a noob

Congrats EX!
Great first bike! Now get out there and ride!
As far as pedals go...I would look into clipless at some point. I started out on a lower model Shimano SPD pedal. M-520 comes to mind...You can pick up pedals and shoes for about $100.00, if you're on a budget. But, don't let that stop you from hitting the trail this weekend!

EX1855, congratulations on the new bike. If you haven't yet taken delivery, the local bike shop could potentially credit you on the stock pedals towards a clipless model. The performance difference between the two types of pedals is like night and day. The cyclocomputer was a solid accessory to add to give you an idea on how you're coming along with your fitness. Does it look something like this picture borrowed from the web:

Enjoy!
Yup, looks just like that, I love it!

I hope you're a female, the 4300 in that color is the women's specific model.
