I have never done a crit before and was wondering if this would be a good one to break my cherry. From the link on the SCNCA website it has it as a flat fast .5 mile loop with 2 right turns with good pavement.
Any place to warm up.
Can you register on the day of the race?
Any idea of the strength or size of the 4/5 field?
You'll never know until you try. Go do it, and have fun!
And FWIW, always bring a trainer along to warm up, just in case.

I have to switch out my skewer for my trainer. And its a 8:oo am start time for th 4/5 field which has me leaving my house at 5:00 am for the 2 hour commute for a 45 minute race that I will probably get shelled.

Yup. Welcome to bike racing.

If pre-registration is full, you can still take a shot at getting in, because there are usually a good number of no-shows in just about any race. And hey--if you don't get in, you can watch to get a feel for it.
