Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Ok, it's a toss up between two races: either go to NC next weekend and race in the mountains, or stay here in FL and race in Jacksonville. I'll have to spend a ton of money to travel to NC, and it'll be cheap to race in here.
Will the mountains be that much cooler to race in? Or should I race in my old hometown.

Mountains.
Have you done any training to race mountains? If all of your training has been on flat land you might be better off staying where you are.

Toss a coin, and then go where you really want to go: N.C.

Stay in Jax. I went down there last year, and had a good time. The wind destroyed the field in the crit, and it essentially became a mass start, downtown TT. Then the P/1/2 race was held during a downpour. It was carnage, absolute carnage...ambulances were running the whole night, and I don't want to say it - but it was interesting to watch happen
If you just care about the Ws and Ls then stay in town. But if you're looking at the big picture, it's pretty hard to do better than spring in the NC mountains as far as overall experience goes. Plus I've heard App State is pretty much party central.
