has any one herd of this bike? Its an old style tank bike with built in light ,fenders, rack, and realy cool crank with stars cut into it. One is going up for sale next week and I have no idea how hight to bid. Its in restorable condition with the usual rust and dirt but nothing looks broken not even the headlight lenses.pictures to come soon ,ok ---- ----.

I checked ebay and found an advertisement for the 1959 jet pilot. The tank was narowed and the head light was moved to the fender so I figure the one I am looking at is pre 59.

Ive got one under the hiawatha name. Non schwinn mens middleweights in vgc tend to go for around 100 bucks on ebay.
Much cheaper at goodwills and such.

Yes, I saw that :p !

That's a cool looking bike, tolfan. The sprocket alone is brilliant, but I love the jet planes on the chainguard.

I had the female version of that bike in a teal/green color. I rehabbed it and she rode it and then we gave to friend looking for a bike to ride with her sons. It was nice, but heavy! My wife had trouble with it on hills. I built her a 1976 Raleigh Super Cousre Mixte w/ a Shimano Nexus 7 hub to replace it. She likes the new bike better.

I think the crank is a sought after piece for low rider and some fixed gear folks. I have seen them go on e-bay and seen a few wanted adds for them on craigslist. The crank is the coolest part of the bike IMHO.

I didnt get it. Some young guy went $95 to impress his girlfriend who thought the stars were pritty. The other bider looked like a collector. I was in up to $50. The 2 african guys that bid up the modern stuff werent interested. A schwinn pralude went for $60 two meninite kids both wanted it but I dont think either one knew what it was. Way to big for me anyway like 60cm
