Recreational & Family - How was your rec-ride today?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Took out the digital camera for today's ride. Got some interesting shots:
The first is a sign I couldn't quite figure out.
Here is a shot of some palm trees. The seed pods are a bright orange and in the late afternoon sunlight really makes them stand out.

Perhaps the bike lane becomes available for parking outside those times?

The image is really pixelated... and actually becomes more pixelated as you go from top to bottom. I'm not sure if that was intentional. It does look kinda cool though.
I think it was a problem when I saved the picture to floppy.
Here's a tree that grows out over the road. Not sure what kind it is. A larch perhaps? :)
Last pic. This one of a pine on one side of the road and a palm on the other. Interesting juxtuposition. (sp)
khuon, thanks for the great shots of the Seattle area. Sure brings back lots of memories.

50 degress F and 15 miles on the mtn bike yesterday.
60 degrees F today and 20 miles on the road bike.
Great riding weather!!
Now that the cold weather is here, I haven’t been riding as much as I should be. I lost my summer/fall goal and since the time changed haven’t had the incentive to do much more than 20 – 30 miles a week.
Yesterday (11/16) was a little warmer (45 c) and I thought of a new route I could try. That area used to be too hilly for me, but this year I have been looking for hills instead of avoiding them.
Well the ride was great! I did 50 miles with an average climb of 85 ft per mile. For me, this was a big jump in mileage specially with the added hills. I made sure I had the proper nutrition, stretched before and after and took a cool down walk after. Now it’s the next day and I still feel great – physically and mentally. The physical part surprises me – I used to be a little sore and tired after a big ride. I think that maybe I have the extras (nutrition, preparation, and follow-up) finally figured out for my body. Gota do more of this!

My husband and I live in the outskirts of San Diego. Unfortunately with all the wild fires all our beautiful hills have been burned. It's very sad to think some of the old oak trees may not recover, but given time everything will come back more beautiful then before. Yesterday after it rained in the morning we finally got a chance to go out for a short 2 hr. ride. We did see small glimmers of new grass shoots coming up through the ash which made me smile. :D
