The forcast said cold and chance of precip.. No biggie!!! Well as the day progressed the drizzle never let up, there were times of flurries... WOO HOO!!! Well 3 O'Clock came around...... Time for my ride back home...... Well in the 9 miles I had to stop 3 times to scrape the ice of my glasses..... My rear brake froze and was unuseable.... and I could not shift all the way down up front (not that it's a bg deal, just found it funny).... My waterbottle froze into the cage.... and there was a new construction area on my path home...... Today was FUN!!!!! As everything I wore is currently drying I write this..... Here are a few pics from earlier....... anywhere you see brown there is ice..... LOL.... I almost want to go out again just because!!! The only scary part is when it gets cold/ gloomy people forget how to drive!! Kinda scary!

When I went to leave for the day, most of my clothing was still damp from the morning commute!

On the ride in I was pelted in the face with sleet, and soaked through from the rain coming down, though it froze after hitting me... by the time I got to work I had to break the ice off my clothing.

The commute home was MUCH nicer, at least the water coming down was already frozen before it hit me, and it was in the form of snow rather than ice pellets pelting me. :)

Wow, that's nasty! Though I'm glad to hear someone else is suffering through the cold!!:D

My ride in was interesting to say the least. The ride home was much nicer but I was exhausted from riding in these temps.
Saturday I basically lived on the couch. Maybe it was due to me getting older, last nights dinner at applebees, over doing it during Fridays commute, or a brief bug. Whatever it was my stomach was upset and I was completely exhausted. Incidents like this make me seriously consider more appropriate weather restrictions. Heck I am pondering parking the bike during winter next year and switching to spin classes. Good lord! crud....

I doubt I could give it up either.
Applebees= yuck :p
Never again. Red Robin would have been a step up from that place. Yummy burgers.

Lol, I wasn't expecting the freezing rain that day too. so when I commuted to work, I ended up having to use several garbage bag to cover the bike (I'm somewhat new to serious care of bike) cause I wasn't sure if the ice would damage the bike. Saw the forecast for some snows last night and just couldn't take the bike to work (no place to lock indoor or under some overhang). Ended up being jittery for not having a ride for the day so I got out and cycled around last night. Needless to say, there are still wet cruds for the bike tire to sling up, http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php?t=285978.

Funrover, it seems colder there than in this part of town. Where is the general area of your commute? (just wondering)

I go from Constitution and Peterson to UCCS(which is on Austin Bluffs just up the hill from Nevada)

I love riding in inclement weather :D. Although freezing rain can be the pits if you're underdressed.

A suggestion: A full rear fender might have kept some of the water/ice from coming off the rear tire onto your front derailler.
