Commuting - Making my commute easier

A week ago I had a tune up on my mountain bike and got them to install semi-slick tires.

I was amazed how much easier my commute is now that I am not using the knobbie tires!!

Anyways, I do not have the little screw things that hold the water bottles on my bike, a $200 dept store bike (yes I know I am bad) that I got 5 years ago.

Anyone know of a holder that I can attach some other way?

I have one from cannondale that looks like a thermal watter bottle sleeve that attaches like any other bag behind the saddle.

I use in on really hot days where I think I might need three bottles of H20, but that does not happen too often, so I just use it to carry stuff.

It is about 7 years old and have not seen too many like it.

There are a couple of options, I had the same problem with not having the braze-ons for bottle cages. I found Schwinn made a plastic one that clips to small diameter tubes. I forget where I found it. I have seen bottle holders that attach to the rear stays of your saddle, to conveniently carry two bottles. And a final option that I've seen used by some is to just get a regular bottle cage and use those clamps that have a screw to tighten, like you use on water tubes in your car, to hold the cage on the bike tubes. Not great on the paint job but effective.

If you use a hose clamp, just put some black electrical tape on the frame under the clamp or a piece of inner tube under the clamp will help protect the frame.

I got a hydration pack that attaches to your seat post from Supergo.com. I haven't opened it or used it yet, but I like the idea of having a bladder that I don't have to attach to myself... it could be another option for you.

Or if you don't fancy the hose clips you can use zip ties. I've done this in the past, with cut up bits of old inner tube around the frame to protect the paint.

Or visit Canadian Tire and buy one of their bottle holders. Last year, they sold some with collars... to attach them the way we did in 1970-1980.

not only can you pad with insulation tape, my mate has 2 cages and his pump holder taped on!
