General Cycling Discussion - Two flats and counting

I swear it has been over a year since my last flats, and today I had two, that's three for the year on two different bikes. Really feel the bike gods had it in for me today.

How many have y'all had this year?

Hah! I had SIXTEEN flats just from April 7th until May 17th!! Twice I got two in one day during that time on 25 mile rides.

Because of this streak of flats, I tried the Mr Tuffy strips (but they definitely caused at least 3 flats). Then I got the Specialized Turbo Armadillo (700x23) earlier this week. So far, so good but a long way to go.

I've had six in the last month. None for the best part of 10,000km before that.

I feel for you-but not real bad yet!! from 1997 to 2000 after moving to Bakersfield CA, I experience 2 to 5 flats a week-that's right a week; PLUS I never got more than 750 miles on a tire and in one instance got 35 miles on a tire before they were killed. After installing Mr Tuffys and slime tubes I manage to reduce the flats to 2 a week-still too many and trying to commute to work. So finally an LBS recommended the Specialize Turbo Armadillo and since 2000 till now (13,000 miles) I have had no flats and I use ultralight 65grm Specialize racing tube and no Mr Tuffy. And as an added bonus they last about 3500 miles in the front and 2800 on the rear.

If I figured this out right, that means you must be on your 9th tire or thereabouts. So, have you even seen a problem with the sidewalls giving out that some people have reported? What pressure do you run them at?
