Just won this on eBay (sorry Dirtdrop)
It comes with a Campy BB. Would anyone have any idea of the groupo that I'm going to be looking for to get it stock? I don't really know anything about Campy heritage.
Thanks
Rob

I'll get over it.
You need to find some early Nuovo Record components. I don't know how it was originally equipped, but that's what I'd do. The chainrings were 144mm bcd by 1969. That frame is set up for centerpull brakes, though.

From the looks of it, that Campag. headset the seller also is auctioning came from it. Why do I have a feeling the LH crank or the dust cap is stripped? All can be dealt with. had centerpull brakes, this is from a time where the frame could be designed for 700c or fro 27", that will direct you as to Winmann 610 or 750's. or Mafacs even, as they were popular in the pro ranks till about this frames build date.
for gearing, your choice, Campag Record (chromed), Nuovo Record, Gran Turismo, the Japanese were not seriously considered back then. Zeus?
seatpost, Jackson offen shipped with a plain alloy seatpin, and hefty chrome fixing bolt. Hubs? The Capmag. cranks indicate Nuovo Record, or Tipo's.
bars and stem" GB, 3ttt, even Cinelli.
notice the hefty BB reinforcement extension.

Ask the seller! Looks like he was selling some of it on eBay, but all I see currently is a NR headset.

Here's a NR RD for it. The bronze record would be too early for that frame. The alloy NR came out in '67.

He sold the wheels for the Bob Jackson. They had rusty spokes.

Then you have to give the frame up in a C&V free lottery.
Looks nice. I'd guess a typical British build of the time would be Campagnolo Nuovo Record crank, 32/40 high flange hubs, pedals, seatpin, deraillers, though the crank may have been lesser, like a Stronglight or TA, Weinman centerpulls, GB bar and stem. Brooks seat of course. Though anything is possible due to personal tastes, I haven't come across a lot of British bikes (or Italian either) with Mafacs. Zeus parts through Ron Kitching were popular as well for penny pinchers.
Ah, just looked at the pics again, with the Campagnolo BB, it had a Campagnolo crank. Also, the front derailler needs to be one of the rare, early bodies with the cable stop!
Having picked up a 1972 Bob Jackson time trial recently, I spent a bunch of time looking into this same question. All-NR is a safe bet, but a lot of Brit lightweight frames, including BJ's, were sold as framesets only, so you see a mix of components. If it's set up for centerpulls, Weinman 999's are a good bet, as are Stronglight cranks in lieu of Campy. That being said, top-to-bottom Campy will probably be easiest to find, easiest to find parts for as the years go by, and ... well, it's Campy.

A complete period correct NR group is going to cost you a fortune. There are many subtleties one must be aware of.
The derailleur of course has the date right on it but the early ones just say patent.
As someone mentioned earlier, due to the nature of the Cable routing you need the early record with the cable stop. Expect to pay $200 on ebay for those 2 parts.
Shifters I am not 100 percent about and don't know what kind of dough they go for. I definately have a set kicking around though that I am not usuing.
Crank of course can get expensive if they are nice. Hard t find an non date code set in good condition. Expect to pay $100 roughtly for the campy cranks. Make sure if you are buying rings and bolts separate that they say Campagnolo Patent as opposed to Brev. Campagnolo.
The brake levers should have the circular cutout on the underside of the lever as opposed to a U shape. Expect to pay at least $60 for these. However since you should be going with center pulls you probably won't use campy levers. Luckily you already have a BB. NR headsets didn't change much the marking on the locknut were a little difference on he earlier ones though, these can sell for around $100. Campy Pedals.. at least $75.. they should be the kind with the extra little strap loop. Bars and stem I have no idea what is correct which reminds me I want to start a cinelli timeline thread. That's about all I have for now.
I have a feeling that this is going to be a long, drawn-out process. Good thing I've still got a few years left in me.

+1! on that notion! :D
I may have my "Bob Jackson" project on the road by this summer!
Picture is what I have hung together so far. And it all should all be overhauled before the final final assembly!
And I suppose someday I'll have to fork over the $40 to get the job card on this bike to see if Bob Jackson actually built this frame.

Nice cruiser Dr. D. I was actually thinking about you and you appeared. If you saw the pics from the auction, you could see that the paint was in pretty rough shape. Barring sending it back to England to have it resprayed I was wondering who might do this bike best.

I hear there's a guy on the Monterey Peninsula who does pretty good work. ... ;)

Best bet would be to find a complete bike with good parts and off the frame to recover some of the cost. You can solve the front derailer issue by running cable housing under the bb from the stop and then using a normal NR. Unless you're incredibly anal or building a show bike, I wouldn't worry about the date codes too much. That's a recent trend. For the age of the bike, paint looks pretty good, I'd rub it out, touchup where you can and wax the heck out of it!
