I work in northwest Ark., but my residence is in central Louisiana, around the Alexandria area. I was looking forward to celebrating my son's birthday with him, seeing my better half for the first time in a couple of months, riding the bike, getting away from cold and wind, and a respite from work.

On Friday, we celebrated my son's birthday, and I was about to go for a ride when I got a call from work. That delayed the ride and dampened the respite somewhat. Finally got to ride. Wind came up to double digit level! Then somebody from work calls my cell phone while I'm riding back toward the house. Got in 27 miles. Total for new road bike is 103 miles... all in double-digit, !#%*#**!! wind! (Arkansas + Louisiana wind)

Tonight, the son, who is now gainfully employed, offers to treat me and his mother to boiled crawfish. The wife is not feeling well due to cool weather but encourages us to go ahead. We step out the door to leave, and it's snowing!!!! Go figure!

The crawfish were, however, outstanding. My lips and fingers are still burning, which is a good thing. Usually snow and the consumption of crawfish do not occur simultaneously.

Oh well, it's been a good trip even with wind, snow, and phone calls. Being an old phart allows me to recognize the good.

Hope you are having a good weekend!

I quite understand. I visited hot, sunny, dry Albuquerque yester pm and today am. Almost a constant wind at my estimate of 50mph, temperatures in the low 30s and high 20s. And today - snow. I outfoxed them all, though. I left the bike at home.

Hope you are having a good weekend!

This cold weather seems to be everywhere. All rides have been cancelled this weekend due to temps and winds in the 20's:(

It a very nice 75 here today and I went for a 62 miles ride this morning. Sorry for all that bad weather up North but it has brought very enjoyable warm and dry air down here when we would normally be starting to get hot and humid by now. 88 is predicted for Wednesday.

We're STILL trying to crack 60 degrees. It's 59 and cloudy. My daughter brought over some Easter candy, so I have to ride that off...

It's raining and cool here in "sunny" southern California. But that's OK... we need every drop we can get!! We are WAY below our average with fire season approaching............
