Hi everyone, I would like to get some input on this bike I just purchased. I have no clue when it comes to bikes so I'll let the pictures do the talking.

seems to be a mix of 70/80,s components, shimano 600 was a reasonably top of the line group set, bike seem,s mid range tourer to me,will make a good everyday rider, with a touch of classic style, grease oil enjoy !

let your local bike shop check the front forks, upon closer inspection they look slightly bend to me, if so, replace them !

Seems to be a reasonable quality commuter. I'll second ozneddy's comments.

Wooooo nice, - I recognise those handlebars my own old Malvern Star 'Super Star' has the same ones. I'm working on giving my bike a good service and cleanup in readiness for Summer and I'm reasonably impressed with what a good solid job of work the 70s-80s Malvern Stars are.

It look like a mid range model late 70's early 80's Malvern Star. I have a Malvern Star Sportstar and a Superstar XL of the same era well a bit later probably 198o or 84 with similar shimano gear but mine are Shimano Tourney not 600. The superstar XL is back in weekend riding and although no lightweight is a nice ride.

My 'Superstar' has old Shimano 'Eagle' components and Weinmann sidepull brakes. Compared with some of my other 10 speed touring bikes it is fairly heavy, but I just happen to like its solid no nonsense qualities and I'm pleased to own it. I was surprised to discover that this particular bike of mine was sold new in Toronto Canada and then brought to New Zealand later on. So far I haven't seen another Malvern Star anywhere in NZ, but I suppose there must be a few here.
