View Full Version : Dallas BF's Ride - April 21st
Ok Dallas members, my school semester ends offically at 11:55pm on the 20th. Which means I want to ride the next morning. :)
I'm thinking a route of 45-50mi, maybe up to 60 if we can find a good route with a number of stops for rest and refuel. Getting the heck out of the city streets a must. I'm hoping for a moving pace of 16-19mph. While the PBA Sat morning Distance Builder ride may work if a group of us want to meet and go with that ride, but I'm certainly open to other ideas, suggestions, and routes.
So who's in? :)

Think we could split the ride, maybe a shorter ride for those with less miles under their belt, say 25 mi, and the longer route for the more seasoned?
Chris
what about the route we took with lecterman? We can call it the Lecterman memorial ride?
I thought the area was pretty nice and the terrain varied enough to present a challenge.
for those not there it starts in Denton, winds around the countryside for a bit and returns
to denton (duh). a bit over 30 miles I think?

If we can get a map of the route, that could certainly work.

If anyone is interested in an hour west of Fort Worth, I have great riding country out near Possum Kingdom lake. I have several loops that would fill the bill of 25 to 50 to 75 miles, with stops every 10 - 20 miles. You can pick flats, hills, or either, depending on what you want to do. Most of the roads (but not all) have been retopped in the last year or so. There is so little traffic you guys from the M'plex would love it, mostly wide shoulders.

21st... early morning ride? Depending on timing, I'm in. I've got a prom to attend the night before and not sure I'd be in tip top shape the next morning.;)

I like the PBA distance builder idea the best so far.
They may actually be doing a re-run of the Wildwood bakery run again on the 21st. That has options for several distances at various turn around points.

That sounds like a great plan to me as well. Doubt I'd be ready for a century distance, but I'll be ready to push my current bests. :) I just got home with my new pair of shoes, hopefully they'll keep my feet happy over longer distances.

Since the PBA century and the Lancaster ride are the same weekend there will be a rerun of the Wildwood bakery run on the 21st.
I like this option the best.
Ok folks, here's what it looks like: the 21st is probably going to be the last chance for me to ride for a couple weeks following due to some surgery I'm going to have to go in for. So let's make this one count. :) Not sure if I'm going to be up for a full Century on the 21st with the PBA, though I'd like to, I'm also going to be going under the knife a few days later so I'd like to show up not dead. :) But a big group for a moderate paced 40 ish miles sounds exactly what I am going to be up for.

I'm probably there for half of that. I have to be at work by 2 in the afternoon.

LUCKY SOB! My semster is not over till May 5 and graduation not till the 13th. AND then I have to start summer classes for my second BBA the next day! Oh the horror! lol
Can an Arlington BF member come out to the ride on the 21st?
I do like the idea of a little shorter ride as (30-40)

I managed to take all express bloc classes this spring. I got my ass kicked up to spring break, and then it was all over until June.:D

I can do the Wildwood on Sat. sounds like a good idea. Not sure what length. I am up for 60-75 but 100 sounds a little rough.

Mike -- Let me know if you are going to do the Wildwood ride. I want to do it too but I don't want to ride to the bakery and spend 1-2 hours there.
Edit: I asked one of the ride leaders if shorter options will be available. Hopefully I will hear from him soon. I am game for 60-75 miles.
