Did anyone do a fleche this weekend? Three friends and I did our first. Rode from Louisiana to Dallas, TX in a traditional point-to-point route. Great fun. Some relentless hills, but we all finished and had a good time.

For those who might not be familiar, a fleche (French for "arrow") is a traditional randonneuring ride held every year around Easter weekend. The goal is for teams of 3 to 5 bicyclists to ride a minimum of 360 Km over a 24-hour period to a common finish point. Unlike a brevet, each team designs it's own route.

What about you? Let's have some good fleche stories.

The New England Fleche is the weekend of April 21...
There should be several groups doing it, including 1 fixed.

I was ready to go but decided to drop it due to some nagging medical issues that I don't want to agitate.

spokenword was on the team so I look forward to his ride report. He set up a wonderful route from Boston up to New Hampshire, Vermont, and ending in Westfield, MA. There will be a tandem and 3 solo machines.

There might be a story or two after the Australians do their Fleche (Opperman All Day Trial) on the 28th (same date for every state).

Putney? Sure... but I altered the route just a bit to shave 16 miles from it as the timing didn't seem to be working out. This eliminated the breakfast stop in Putney and moved it to somewhere in Brattleboro.

Take a look at the route and I'll make a call to let Steve and Jeremy know if you are coming.
