It's a Miyata Alumicross, which was their top of the line "cross" bike. It wasn't exactly sold as a cyclocross bike but that's what I plan on using it for, because it basically is. At some point I imagine I'll replace the drivetrain, but I just finished rebuilding it so that can wait. It was a NOS floor model from the 90's I got on Ebay. Aluminum bonded to steel lugs and steel stays. Pretty cool.

Thats a cool bike. What was it sold as if not for cross?

It was just called a "cross" bike as in hybrid. A few manufacturers did some 700c wheeled, stout road bikes and called them hybrids in the 90s, Miyata made the best ones though. That is most other hybrids were generally low to mid-end bikes. I think the geometry may not be so cyclocrossy, but basically they're cross bikes. Schwinn made a couple cool ones too, something like the criss cross I think it was called. You can find them cheap sometimes. Not this one, though it was 1/2 the cost of a new bike.
