Touring - Can I go from San Francisco to Santa Cruz on Hwy 1?

I can't tell what the deal is with Hwy 1 between these cities. If I get on Hwy 1 just south of S.F., will I be able to take it all the way to Santa Cruz? I want to visit a buddy of mine down there.

Yes! I would avoid the Devils Slide area, but other than that, it's a great ride.

Yes, this is a great ride, just make sure you give yourself the whole day, it is long and hilly.

The deal is lots of traffic. Picking the right time of day or week or year helps.
