View Full Version : Los Angeles - wolfpack
i just found wolfpack's site, seems pretty hardcore. anyone on here do these rides? i don't think i could keep up but since i'll be in the area for the summer i might try it out if i can get the stamina. i don't think i'll be able to hang but it would be fun to try.

yer right, they look pretty no nonsense. its all in good fun though.
i think the "let's all pace ourselves and bike around" group is midnight ridazz which is linked to from there.
if i try to do any rides it will be with the midnight ridazz rather than the wolfpack, i know i wouldn't be able to keep up. still, some of their videos look like a lot of fun.
there's nothing like that here. i'm getting really tired of this town. stupid capstone papers. time for another energy drink. i'm homesick for oregon and my mountain bike.
I didn't get the impression from their site that it was all that tough. 30-40 miles isn't short, but it's not 60.
yeah but i think they keep a pretty good pace, which is something i don't do on longer rides.

They probably average, what, 20-25mph ?
Looks like fun. Night riding is so damn good.
Fun.. night riding is the best.

wolfpack is straight gangsta...
and something always happens when I go on the rides..sure Im a f***ing wussbag and when I can even keep up with them, its for real just barely keeping up..I have been left behind more than once...but thats why they rule so hard..only the strong (and super fast!) survive! ...but hey..at least I got my spokecard :D
my ultimate failure was the ride to the velodrome..it will haunt me forever..I wanted to make it SO bad ..it was SO cold I couldnt even move and I had to wuss out and turn around cuz I for real couldn't move and I think I was blue heheh

I need to learn knee surgery - this will be a great industry in 5-10 years
don't worry it only took some daylight hours for me to completely scrap this idea. i'm not hardcore, i don't act like it.

you should come out man, its not that bad. they're not any faster than any other random roadie club ride. there really are worse things in the world than getting dropped.
well i'm not even going to be on that side of the country until mid may so i'll see once my crap's settled.
are there public trans systems that go from OC vicinity up to hollywood area?

there might be some buses, i dont know. but the blue line train will bring you up from long beach.

metrolink goes from OC up to union station and from there you can just take the redline..but I dunno if bikes are allowed on metrolink..ive never been on it..i always came up from long beach on the blueline
well i'll see about it. if i don't try to bust my ass keeping up with the 'pack i'll definitely try to meet some people at one of the midnight ridazz events.

That Wolfpack stuff makes me really wish I was still living in Los Angeles. Didn't know of the Wolfpack back then, but I know where I'd be tonight if I was still in the area.

Well crap... I've been looking for something like this to check out but work prevents me from even considering something at 10pm on a monday night. :( I'm definitely going to try to make it to the next drag race though. :D
Oh, and bikes are allowed on the Metrolink trains. I take it afew times a week when i'm biking into work. Generally only room for two bikes per car, but we've crammed up to 3 or 4 at a time with the creative use of bungie cords or helmet straps. :)

guess what? so do velodromes, you know, where track bikes belong?
and I am sure that LA has done nothing out of the ordinary in regards to other cities, aside from hype.

He just got us everyone, he just got us bad. Throw away your bikes, go home, we have been told.
I quoted this just so everyone else knows that this post is important, it points out a completely ignored and underrepresented opinion in cycling today, I just want to thank "the wrench" for coming to our forum and really upsetting the status quo with his cutting edge concepts.

consider my mind blown.
Anyway-there is a new weekly ride in Long Beach on Sunday nights. Termed the "Puppy Cuddle Hustle", its brisk like the Wolfpack but I was able to make it (barely) so it can't be that hard. Meet atop the Long Beach Convention Center at 7:30 PM. Beeeeee Thereeeee!!!!

monday nights are actually pretty light on traffic depending on where you go in LA. We like it that way, but to be honest, we like to edit out the cars. they get enough press as it is.
the song is Venus by Air.
anybody have an mp3 of that DYS song? would love to use that. I dont have a record player... and sadly all my vinyl and my whole straightedge 7" collection is packed up deep in the garage.
Grab it from here (http://www.aetheus.com/files/01%20Wolfpack.mp3) (right click, save as...). If you could PM me when you've got it so I can delete it, that would be appreciated. Cheers.

After CM, the ride home is so much like that. Nothing beats 3 lines wide open and the tail end of a buzz with the night so open.
Thanks for the song info.
