View Full Version : Trail clean up.
Does this happen in your community? Do you get involved in it? The trail in question here is a nice trail to ride on, I've done so many times.

Do you help with trail clean up in Maricopa County? If you do what is the most interesting thing you have pick up to dispose of? How about the nastiest? Does your state offer some sort of an incentive to turn cans & bottles in, like redemption or so much per pound, etc.?

I work on my local R to T maintenance crew. We do a heavy clean up and maintenance every two of years, with a lighter clean up every 6 months. Sometimes we have to do emergency repairs after a bad storm or flood. This year we replaced the mulch in the flower beds by the stop signs:p

Since I am not the one making the mess....no. Maybe the time would be better spent monitoring the trails and issuing citations to those who litter. Nothing annoys me more than people who destroy the environment while "enjoying" it.

I don't do any trail clean up. There is no trail I ever ride, let alone know has a clean up need.
The stats I posted are for road-side litter.
Aluminum gets some pennies per pound. Bottles are non-returnable, although recyclable easily from any residence (city provided bins) or at large bins at most park like areas.
