BMX - SE Quadangle cable routing?

Hey there, a C&V regular here. I just picked up an SE Quadangle 1.0. I'm fixing it up to flip, but I'm puzzled as to how the Gyro cables are supposed to be routed? This particular bike had a not so intelligent previous owner, and the cables (front & back) were routed behind the bars, over the crossbar. They were stretched so tight both brakes were locked up against the rims. Should they go out from the levers in front, then pass through the center of the bars? Not a bad deal at all for $18 at a thrift store, and I'm planning a few mods before I let it go. Namely new gyro cables and an Odyssey alloy sprocket for starters. I might go all the way and do a three piece conversion.,,,,BD

It doesn't matter how you route the gyro cables - over/under crossbar, what ever. Just make sure they are well-lubed & aren't pulled super-tight as you've noted.
Also, I'd suggest that you don't put too much money into that if you're gonna re-sell it. SE Quads like that aren't exactly hot sellers.

I guess they're not hot sellers, if people are donating them to the thrift stores this new, lol. It has a free service for life sticker from a well known local LBS chain. Maybe I should let them give it free service, lol. It would certainly save me the trouble, right? Most of the parts I was going to put on it I already own, so no real big loss. And btw, there's an SE quad sitting at 90 bucks with 5 days left on ebay, although it's a bit cleaner than this one.,,,,BD

Response time? hehe. It was nearly off the page when I jerked it back up. No one was going to respond, believe me. Possibly cause the bike is a ***, right;)

You can purchase different length gyro cables from most any of the mail orders. Also, most stock brakes on BMX bikes are poorly put together/are terrible.

Yah, I'm gonna put new brakes on it, lol. That would run me about what, $80 to $100? Looking for a mild profit here, lol.,,,,BD

Odyssey makes great brakes that are cheaper then some of the other stuff out.

Dia-tech hombres aren't bad either. Add that too some longer gyro cables and a Tech 77 for the lever and you are good.

Does anyone know how the brake cables were routed by SE? That was my main question.,,,,BD

It probably depends on the shop it was assembled at. Some people route the cables over the cross bar, some people go under. It really doesn't matter that much. If the bars have a real low cross bar, then over might be the better route.
