Why, just why?

There are better ways to make things light rather then putting holes in them.

Thats an amazing idea

That has to take the cake for stupidest thing to do for pegs. I wonder how many grinds Edwin could do with those before breaking them into a few billion pieces.

That argument is completely irrelevant.

The peg is obviously directed towards the park riding community. While I don't particularly like the idea, I don't see anything wrong with it. I doubt many people grind through with coping, and I am sure they tested them sufficiently before going into production.

If you don't like them, don't buy them.

i doubt they tested them much, but they will be fine for park riders.

I honestly doubt that they would hold up that well even for park riders. Those are like the pegs you find on X-Mart bikes.

that was a very dumb statement.

FitRider 921

The design of them are very similar. The materials are different though. I still don't think they'd hold up so well.

i have never seen x-mart pegs with machined holes in them.

I do. Or atleast at the ones around here.

My friend and i laughed so hard when he saw these on dans and sent me the link.

I swear we spent l ike 15 IM's straight of just "HAHAHAHAHA" and we were actually laughing.

Eastern makes silly stuff.

Dumbest thing to ever do to pegs?

i can see them being somewhat decent for park

Me to, The holes are only in one side, if you have them facing up, I think they would hold up.

premiumbmx2005

your supposed to only have the holes facing up

KinetikBiker

I could have told ya that.

But still with that kind of cutout on a peg you can't rotate them when they start to wear, plus they look stupid.

They may actually, all jokes aside be good for flat landers cause the holes might give traction? For real.

I was thinking they might be OK for flatlanders, cause they don't really need them for anything besides standing on (unless they ride street or park as well, in which case they wouldn't be so good).

standing on and holding.

They just wanted to use the word "slit" in a product title. The marketing guys asked the R&D guys what part would be easiest to cut a slit in, and that thing was born.

Next they will do cut out cranks and bars!

Next they will do cut out cranks and bars!
First the marketing guys will have to come up with a cool word that have to use in a product title. What word would make you want to drill holes in your crank? Think of it and email them.

I don't like the idea, but it's good that Eastern is trying different things. Maybe they'll actually make something good, for once. If companies didn't try to "think outside the box" (even though Eastern is a bit too far out of the box..) we'd still be riding bikes like that!

FitRider 921
04-12-07, 03:35 PM
But that's not a good way to think outside the box because the integrity of the parts and standards are decreasing greatly when you start cutting holes in them. They are supposed to be lighter and stronger- not one or the other.

We'll, you never know. What do they have to lose? I'd imagine all the weight people don't mind them..And they are fairly cheap so if you ever "grind through them", buy a new set. I'm not trying to stick up for Eastern because I've had problems with them myself, but I don't see this being too much of a horrible idea.

FitRider 921

Well, the "what do they have lose" part is quite true. I don't know how much further down their rep can go.
