Training & Nutrition - before and after

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
I was curious so I weighed myself before and after my ride today. Anyway, after my ride (20 miles) I weighed 2.2 pounds less than I did before the ride. I don't think I was dehydrated because I went through 20 ounces of water during the ride. Do I need to up my water intake or is this normal?
P.S. I just realised the subject sounds like a "Wheel of Fortune" category. For that I'm sorry.

I went on a 40 miler last week. I drank 80 oz of liquids. I weighed less when I got back than when I left. Probably just water loss.

Yep, you can easily drop 5 pounds or more in water weight during a ride. If I lose more than 2 pounds I usually try to drink more next ride to stay better hydrated.
Today I did a recovery ride with very low effort and still dropped a couple of pounds.

Generally it is mostly water weight that you are losing. Nothing too serious as long as you maintain proper hydration throughout the ride.
I once lost 9 lbs in a 24 hour bike race, but that's a whole different story...(involving, of all things, SPAM)
