Went to the LBS today got some new shoes and pedals. The shoes Where $179.00 and the pedals Where $100.00. Me and a buddy asked what kinda deal we could get if we both bought shoes and pedals. After some figuring he said that he would let us have the shoes and pedals for $150.00 apiece.
After we started on our ride back we got to thinking that he made a mistake and under charged us. Remember , the shoes themselves had a price tag of $179.00. That would be $30.00 off the shoes and the pedals free.
my question is what would You do?

What comes around, goes around. If you and your bud go back and ask the shop guy to recheck his math - he will remember you and take of you.
You've got a great opportunity to be a stand-up guy. People remember that.

yea, I already plan on saying something. He had to order my size so, when i go and get em I'll ask him I his figuring was right.
I bought a mini pump from him last summer and it broke and I went to turn see if he could get the piece that was broke and he just gave me a whole new pump . like you said " people remember that kinka stuff".

I personaly wouldnt wait untill the shoes come in, i would head over the the LBS right now, and pay up. If he catches the mistake before the shoes come in, he may put a hold on the shoes, or just assume you tried to rip him off.
Thats my thinking atleast :)

So you're saying that you are going to get 2 pairs of shoes (way over priced in the first place) and 2 pairs of pedals for a total of $300.00 bucks? You are either getting a killer deal saving you $258.00 dollars or the guy has made a mistake...Hmmmmm. I aint no saint, but I would say something just to be sure. You never know. The guy will still probably give you a great deal for pointing out his mistake (if he's made one). Maybe he knows one of those items is gonna be a close out in the next few weeks or something.

I was in a similar situation once, and said something about it. The guy gave me a discount anyway! :D

Tell the guy, the money he's losing is just like our salary. Imagine if part of our money was missing during payday, and no one could tell us about it. Tell him, and he will take care of one of his greatest customers!

called the LBS and got everything straight. He did charge to little. He said that he click on the wrong shoe ( a cheaper shoe) when he was figuring. I told him that I would pay the rest when the shoes come in.

What a guy!!
It seems like a decent shop - based on your past experience - you did the right thing (in my opinion)!

That's great! You made the right decision...Just don't say that I said that, wouldn't want anyone to figure out that I'm some do-gooder! ;)
Besides, there's that thing about karma again...

I'd say, go back and tell him about his mistake. Creating and maintaining a relationship with the LBS is very important. And the truth is that he's carrying such a margin on things like shoes and pedals that he may just thank you and let you go with the price paid...
Besides, it really is the right thing to do. We wouldn't be discussing it if you didn't think so yourself.
You always have to say something.
You had already convinced yourself on the purchase and most likely the'll through you a bone for the good deed.
I've not been charged for stuff and gone back to the store to have the Manager say keep it!
