Road Cycling - Here is my new little Giant

Can't get anymore compact than this :eek:

After months of research and test-riding, I finally brought home this TCR2. No other bikes in its class put this kinda smile :D on my face, and it didn't hurt my wallet much.

I swapped the SPD-R pedals with SPD-A. Everything else is stock, for now.

Evil reflectors! must remove!

I like those aero fork, other than that, I'm a little sick of the compact geometry. CG frame looks cool but I want to try out the traditional geometry frame, thus ending up with what I have, and I love it so far. I did consider Giant, but the price was kinda high and the LBS has bad customer service.

So your last bike was a compact?

I can't really compare Compact frame's performance with traditional frame because I have not experience traditional beyond around-the-block test-rides. But one thing is certain: I'm one of those short-legs, long-torso people, and Compact frame fits me better than traditional. I did try Trek, Cannondale, you-name-it, but they just didn't feel right.

Gotta love Giant Bikes...though your tires are way too skinny and your handlebars are all bent wrong (I ride a Giant AC Air Lite and an NRS-1)...the bike is still a beauty!

That is a great looking bike! I know in my thread you wrote that maybe I should be fitted to something like the Giant and I am going to talk to my LBS about it tomorrow. I would like to know what kind of digital camera you used to take the last set of pics. They are wonderful shots.

I use Canon Powershot S200.

Now, did you say your inseam is 29''? That's kinda short for a 5'9'' guy, don't you think? If you really have short legs, the Giant (or any other compact bike) may be the ticket. The only way to find out is to test-ride them.

Since you like to sit upright, here are some of the bikes you may want to try:

1. Specialized Sequoia
2. Giant OCR 1
3. Giant TCR Elite (if money is no subject)

The first two come with adjustable stems. Specialized Sequoia and TCR Elite have a longer than usual head-tube, so it will automatically give you a more upright riding position. So, your LBS has refund policy?

Longer head-tube in TCR Elite (which also has carbon chainstay). Same thing with the Specialized Sequoia (no carbon chainstay, though).

Yeah I'm 5'9 with a 29" inseam...It's is so very hard to find Levi's 501 in my size with a 29" inseam, in fact 29" inseams are hard to find everywhere! But that's another story.

I am interested in looking at the Giant's you wrote about. Maybe the compact frame is the way to go. I already talked to Rich who owns the LBS that I shop at and he wants me to try it too. I love Cyclopath Bike Shop here in Fresno. These guy's know how to take care of customers. they want me to be happy with my purchase so he will gladly take the C'dale back if the Giant is better. I can't tell you how much I apreciate the service from these guy's. I sometimes feel like I'm one big pain in da *ss with them but they just want to make me happy. If you live in the Central Valley of Callifornia go to CycloPath on Blackstone and talk to Rich, Mike, Tom, Dwayne, Bruce, Jordan. Enough of my free plug!

Very nice bike! The Giant compact was my choice too. These TCR's are a real bang for the buck, -- over which, of course, I must have lost my head!

Nice bike! I'm one of those long torso short leg guys too. Have ridden a few traditional bikes and the giant compact. The Giant juts felt right. Now I'm just trying to decide between the OCR 1 and OCR Elite. The Elite is a little more than I wanted to spend but it's a smoother, lighter and just all around better bike. And for 1500 you can't beat it. :-)
