Charity Events - Looking for a cross-country ride around August/September

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Anybody know of one?

I'd also be interested in doing a small-scale ride (2-5 people) on my own if anyone is interested. I know of one sponsor I could get for sure.

I'm not sure that this is the right place to post this.

I'll be a little more specific.

I know of the Habitat Bicycle Challenge (very cool: http://hbc.habitatgnh.org/), but I have a schedule conflict there. It seems like all of the other rides I can find have restrictions on who can join.

I have a charity in mind and if I could find 1-4 other riders I'd like to do a small cross-country ride sometime around the August/September time period. I know of one sponsor that is already willing to join the cause to get the ball rolling. I want to organize something bigger and more official a few years from now, and if I could find 1 or 2 guys to ride with this year it would be a good learning experience towards planning that ride. We don't need to take over the world or raise hundreds of thousands of dollars. With my sponsor I'm sure we wouldn't be losing money, though, and every little bit counts.

I figure finding someone is a long shot, but it's worth a try asking. I'd also like to hear about rides that I may not have found while I was searching. It seems like most of the stuff I find is outdated. I could always do one of these (http://www.abbike.com/), but I'd rather ride for charity if possible.

If you would be willing to travel to the event, check out www.ibdride.org (http://www.ibdride.org) they have 3 210 mile rides this year to benefit 5 organizations that cater to people who have/had Ulcerative Colitis and Crohn's disease, as well as colon cancer. This year they did a ride in Texas back in March, one in New York in June (which I'll be riding in) and finally in Seattle August 3 -5.
