Anyone signed up for this? Any insights you'd like to share?

I think I will be doing it. From what I understand:
All uphill then all downhill returning.
Very good chance of really strong headwind coming down.

I'll be there, but I know nothing about it. Should be sweet.

Yeah I signed up. I don't think I will like it (memories of Berkeley crit keep popping in to my head), but I am doing all the races I can right now.

I rode the 5's. The course was indeed half down, half up. The uphill section was actually a good little wall. I rode in my little ring, and it saved my legs.

Anyhoo, the first 3 laps I worked to settle into the pack. Our race was only 11 laps. The rest of the pack was riding the aforementioned hill in the 53, and stomping their way up the hill. I was stuck at the end of the accordian, and the first turn after the start/finish was of the hairpin variety. On the 4th lap I put in an attack on the left near the crest of the wall and got a big gap. Looking back, no one was coming up to partner with me, so I started to soft pedal. I went down the descent and as the front of the p-ton was starting to absorb me, I started to pedal, which I often do when I'm riding my bicycle. My effin chain fell off. I coasted to the corner and whined to the official that I was owed a free lap. He disagreed. Lesson learned: chain problems=catch up to the pack. The shame of it was I felt really strong and I could smell podium (and not just because it was right next to the porta johns).

The course was a blast, and the weather was swell. Doing fast group rides with higher cat guys really pays off in these 5's crits. I think that's all I got on this one.
