anyone out there know of a bike site that sells nike road shoes?????
A rant about Nike.People think Nike is the best because all of these popular atheletes are in Nike commercials and Nike is the most expensive shoe right? Nike pays those atheletes millions to be in advertisements and to wear their products. At the same time Nike pays the "prevailing minimum wage"(read $1.00 a day) to the people who produce the shoes. That would be like a company such as Boeing or Microsoft paying their employees $5.15 an hour.I know,I know, other companies do it too.It just cracks me up to see somebody wearing a Nike t-shirt or ball cap knowing they paid a premium price for the stuff when it is nothing but an advertisement for a company that can well afford to pay it's own advertising.Rant over.
ugh, athletes I should proof read!

Heybulldog,
I don't know about Nike, but if you want a deal on cycling shoes, check out the Northwaves at sierratradinpost.com. If they have your size, I doubt you'll find a better deal. Nashbar has some pretty good deals on shoes right now, too.
FWIW,

ahhh...the Nike Rant once again.
Yes, Nike manufactures their stuff outside the USA and pays much lower wages. That's why they did it in the first place to save money. They are a corporation after all and they are out to make money. That's capitalism. Guess what, most corporations manufacture their stuff outside the country so they can pay much lower wages and save money. Take a look at the tags of the shirts you purchase you'll see that most if not all are manufactured abroad. If you are disgusted with Nikes practices then you should be equally disgusted with every other companies practices also. Good luck trying to find American Made Clothing. Not much manufacturing left in this country. Oh yeah, most of the bike and bike components we use to ride are also made abroad so they can be manfactured much more cheaply.
By the way, I'm not a Nike Lover nor do I own any Nike apparel.

I don't care who makes it or where it's made! If it works, it's comfortable, looks good, does what it's supposed to, etc.......If you want to pay extra for a logo then go ahead. But if that logo happens to be attached to an excellent product, pay the price and shut the #$%678 up....Just my opinion :D
Sorry for the rant, you guys are right. What happens to workers half a world away has no bearing on me in the USA.After all "I got mine"
It's a relief to see that people are slamming nike outside of the usual anti-globalization circles.

Another example of a world economy. Forget petty parochialism. We're competing for jobs with people from around the world, and it's not going to get better for us 'til it gets better for them.

Naw... I wear Diadora [made by Bulgarians under EC regulations] and live in Canada. I don't have to apologize for living in the US... but you can, if you feel it's necessary... :-)

If you had a better idea of what was really going on you'd be more than worried about your job!! The media has merged to 6 major corporations ( see www.thirdworldtraveler.com - do a search using term "media" and www.mediachannel.org). This means that they aren't telling the whole story behind this globalization stuff. To really see the violent repression of peaceful demonstrators at these events, check out the pictures here: http://www.dc.indymedia.org/a16.php3
and the pictures at
http://www.dc.indymedia.org/search-process.php3?medium=all&keyword=a16&page=1 and at:

http://www.dc.indymedia.org/search-process.php3?medium=all&keyword=a16&page=5
What you see will shock you. You will see cops hitting demonstrators with vans....and running over them with motorcycles if you check out this link: www.crosswinds.net/seventeenthande
There are much more pictures.

I wear Nike mtn. shoes and not because of the logo. I noticed at least one post which said Nike was more expensive. The only reason I bought these was the price. 34.95! So far they've held up very well. As for a status symbol, I've always thought Nike was one of the less status oriented shoe at least among bike shoes. Besides, who's gonna see a logo covered with mud in the woods? :D
heybulldog, are you kidding? I like my crow under glass.Seriously I have been looking at Performance Trophy road shoes, they are reasonably priced and made in Italy,no not the US but I'm willling to bet not a sweatshop either.
