Northern California - Rainy Davis 400k brevet this Saturday?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
The weather forecast indicates a rather rainy 400K brevet for this Saturday.
Any tips regarding some useful rain equipment or tips for a perhaps very long ride in the rain ?

Stay away from all the drunk college kids/alumni that will be in for Picnic Day.
Well, he'll be leaving Davis at 6 am Saturday morning, and should be back in Davis between 6 pm* Saturday evening and 9 am Sunday morning, so hopefully he'll miss the Picnic Day revelers.
(* the cue sheet says the finish control opens at 18:08 on Saturday. 400 kilometers in 12 hours? good grief.)

I was going to go w/ the family, but having been to one of the wettest ones in memory ~4 yrs ago or so, I think I'm gonna pass. I don't think lutz w/ have any issues w/ traffic around town if the weather's gonna be wet. ;)
edit: lutz, the only advice if it's raining is to have a cape/jacket that breathes; it's no fun getting wet from the inside.
Thanks for the suggestions,
the weatherunderground forecast is looking even gloomier today,......
