They look fine, outstanding condition. Two very minor issues: rear tire has a balky valve (I'll replace the tire, teflon tape the valve, use the existing tire as a spare). Zipp logos are slightly yellowed (for six months in 06 Zipp was embedding the Zipp logos into the CF, they no longer do that). Gives the wheels character (and new Zipp stickers aren't exactly expensive).

Otherwise just about perfect. Very pleased. Great deal @ $1200 w/ Conti Sprinters. Skewers and brake pads are on order @ the LBS along with another D.A. 11-23 cluster. And I'm not sure I'll need a 23 with these babies. Amazing.

Zipp CF wheels exude a Forumula One high tech aura that no other bike schwag short of Lew Racing Borons for Morons can probably match. My staff was in awe. These are truly the Bike Schwag *****.

I heart eBay.

49 years old Botto. The only place it says 50 is on my racing license.

'License to Race'. Sounds like a James Bond film plot element.

It's not. It's a Permit to Get Friggin Hammered Even If You Don't Drink card.

No doubt...my wife is Puerto Rican and we get down there from time to time....I find it hard to believe anyone would ride a road bike there...forget the quality of the roads, the drivers are fooking crazy.

i know. i rode a bike around the NW corner of PR for a few weeks (Rincon).

that, and riding in cars, driven by friends who were as drunk as me, led me to wonder whether i was playing russian roulette with my life & limbs.

good times!

Although I am happy for you and your Zipp purchase (you can now officially be called Zippy the Pin Headed Cyclist) there are other good CF wheels the 404's price range. Reynolds Stratus, for example, have come out on top of many road tests against the 404's.

My guess.... he never got them. He is only pretending he got them to please everyone and to stop the death threats about creating (should I or shouldn't I threads) but the real reason is he is still debating on if he wants to buy them or not.

Believe it you Zippless putz.

This bike felt like it was going 35mph riding up and down my driveway.

Now Zipp it already.

By the way if my wife finds this photo of the road bike in her kitchen she will use it as evidence in the divorce proceedings. So I hope you appreciate the lengths to which I do go to satisfy your insatiable bike weenie schwag gossip needs.

All I need are the CF brake pads and I'm in business. The Starship Patentcad will remain in Velo Dry Dock until said same parts are available from Piermont Bicycle Command.

I must confess that anyone calling a bicycle 'hott' conjures forth images of young men doing things in private that are rather disturbing. It is after all, just a bicycle. Women are hott. Bicycles are expensive pains in the ass.

It's just a bit yellowed on the edges of the Zipp logos here and there. Nothing that anybody is going to notice @ 30mph BEHIND ME if you know what I mean : ).

Flip my stem? Not after two back operations. I'm not KP. That kid has so much vertical distance between his seat nose and handlebars he needs a friggin safety line to get down into the drops. When I'm hunkered down over those bars with my Pcad butt slid back on that Toupe seat I look like Ekimov on that bike. Looks can be deceiving. But it IS better to LOOK like a pro than to RIDE like a pro.

Speedway, IN, USA. Rims and hubs made right here, spokes from Sapim. Warranty is one year and we also offer a 5 year crash/no fault replacement deal that provides replacements at significant discounts in the event of an encounter with a fellow racer, garage, angry redneck, etc.

Why does this photo make me think of Timothy Leary?

Why would that photo make you think at all is the real question.

I've owned a fair amount of pricey bike stuff, and the Zipps impress me with their quality and design. Expensive, but very well made and designed, I'm not sure what else you can ask for. You don't get light and durable along with low priced when it comes to nice bike parts in my experience. Zipps are very rugged too: they are fairly common on the NY area amateur racing scene; I have plenty of friends and acquaintances who race and even train on them regularly. Zipps are incredibly bulletproof for such light, aero wheels. Good stuff.

Is that a scratch on -her- kitchen cabinet I see? :p

I agree--it needs a PT--and ceramic bearings. Then, you can send it my way for some "coast-down" testing on Catoctin Mountain.
