Which lists a modified loop around Prospect Park as having 1,000 feet plus of climbing. Is that conceivable??? Has anyone actually ridden the Park with a Garmin, and can give an indication of what the elevation gain on a single lap of the outside loop road actually comes out to? I wouldn't have figured it was even a fraction of that amount, even adding in a climb up the Slope to the West of the Park and two trips up the Col de R600DuraAce.

Heh?

(EDIT FOLLOWS>...)

This one looks a little more like it... just wondered what any of you folks could figure out.

It looks like it's more like 200 feet:

Total time for that ride was 1 hr 11 minutes. So either they did a couple of loops, or the software is buggy... or both.

Since the ride is at about a 6-8 mph pace, I'm guessing it's an error. That bump in Prospect Park barey merits the name "hill."

My guess they are adding all the climbs together to get a 'gain'. They do not subtract the downhill portions.

click on the elevation link in the box on your left. The chart elev vs distance looks a bit screwy.

Brooklyn's highest point is about 220 feet so you'd have to do the Prospect Park loop about 5 times to gain that much elevation
