Touring - Free route-mapping software! (SF Bay area only, sorry!)

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I've not used this free program, yet, but it does looks useful and I thought other Bay area riders may want to know about it. This page also links to Topo USA, a commercial CD-ROM mapping application discussed earlier under RainmanP'S thread.

KLIMB is really great. I'm happy to see that it's available again. I think Keith Vetter's site was unavailable for a while.

I use it along with Grant Peterson's "Roads to Ride" books which, unfortunately, are out of print. I found my copies of "Roads to Ride" (Marin, Alameda, and Contra Costa counties) and "Roads to Ride (South) (San Mateo, Santa Clara, and Santa Cruz counties) at a used bookstore in Mountain View.

Gotta download the other regions now that the .zip files are accessible again.

The main program comes with the peninsula and eastbay region only. I need SOUTH BAY, but the FTP where you can download other region files can't be accessed. Does anybody have the South Bay region files? Can someone upload/email me the zip?

Thanks
