I know it's an older model, now defunct. Anybody own one or know anything about these from personal experience? Thanks-

I seem to remember the NX was the "high end" of their line,
pushing the $3000 price tag.

As I remember, it was the same design as their other bikes
but had disc brakes and higher-end components for the
drivetrain and brakes. It also had front and rear suspension.

Beyond that, I know little. I don't actually believe many were
shipped due to the high price (around $3000 if I'm not mistaken).

Someone had a picture of one once on the net at a BikeE fan
site....it's been a long time since I saw it.

I have had my NX for three years. A great bike for all uses. Fairly light and responsive and not a bad climber. Very high quality components including the Schlumpf Mountain Drive and Hayes Discs. Bike E made these only one or two years and they were the only models built in Portland. They sold at retail for $1900.00 so I am sure the company lost money on every one of them. If you could find a good used one for $700.00 or so it would be a bargain

Have one bought in 2001, sticker price $2400 got it for $1700, really nice bike and came with many extras, just had brakes repaired last year. Considering selling it now, not riding much any more.

You might check out the information on www.bicycleman.com concerning recalls and warnings about the various BikeE models. The site has listings for companies that are now out of business. BikeE in particular had a lot of CPSC safety recalls just before the company went belly up in 2002. Your model is not among the models listed on the site for a general description of the bike. For a long time this store in Alfred, NY was a good source for BikeE parts.

Every time I see a BikeE I think, "what a great design, wish I could get my hands on one".
