I bought this new in the early '90s, but I can't remember exactly when and e-mails to Gary Fisher didn't help either. Anyone recall when these were out? When did they change from Fisher to Gary Fisher?

Who cares how old it is. That is a great looking bike! Is it 7 or 8 sp? I would take that over any new bike today. Good luck and have fun with it.

It's a 7 speed, orginally came w/ full LX, but I put on an old 600 crank and left the outer Biopace ring on as a bash guard. Ah...Biopace! The frame is Fisher True Temper cro-mo and has a few trick things like the reinforced seat collar and ovalized down tube at the bottom bracket. Standover is 32" and the top tube is a whopping 59cm, that's stretched out! It also had a painted Mtn stem which I took off because that was waaaay too long.

Late 80s would be the guess, maybe '90. The mountain bikes of that era would've had those tubes and features. But I'm no expert.

That is a sweet looking bike.

I e-mailed Gary Fisher again to ask when they changed from Fisher to Gary Fisher and they had no clue! I can kind of understand if they don't have a clue about certain older models, but wouldn't you know when your company changed names?

Because they are now owned by Trek and have been for almost 10 years. Email Gary himself and ask (google is your friend here)

Sweet bike dood! Nice that the cable routing is on the right side of the TT. (Assuming you shoulder on your right)

Ride the hell outta that thing!!!
