Introductions - Hey y'all (sorry-couldn't resist) from Georgia

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Hi to everyone. Brand new to the forum. I expect I'll be reading more than posting, but I wanted to say hello.

I'm 31 and live in the Atlanta area. I've been riding for a couple years now. I ride once or twice a week. I'm into mt biking, but I'll take my time in the saddle any way I can get it. If the trails are closed, I've been known to do a few miles on pavement.

My bike is a Trek Fuel. I have a love/hate relationship with it. When I'm sitting at my computer I love my bike - :crash: . When I'm on my bike, I keep thinking about other bikes I'd like better and wondering where that creaking sound is coming from - :irritated .

I did a 25 mile charity road ride last year. I was surprised how much I enjoyed it. I didn't think it would really be much fun without the trees rushing past my head, but it was a good time. (I'm sure part of that sensation was due to the very nice Waterford 2200 that I demo'd - thanks again to Erik and the guys @ The Bicycle Link)

Happy trails!

Hi BettWalker -

I chose that username on another bike site a couple years ago and its easier if I only have to remember one username and password for all.

When I first started out, I wasn't much of a rider. I didn't really understand the gearing and spent most of my time on the small chainring, only shifting the rear gears when I absolutely had to.

I've gotten a bit better, but the moniker seems to just fit. It keeps me humble.

Wow, a 31 year old Granny. :p
Welcome, you will find a large number of people here from Georgia. Maybe we can get together for some rides. Samdabikeman is up by the Olympic course, I keep on meaning to meet him and CBHungry for a tour.

hi cbhungry! i usually ride Blanket's Creek. its only about 15 min. from my house, so its good for a quick ride when I'm pressed for time. I also like the Chicopee Woods trails. i've been once yellow river, once to bear creek, once to pigeon mt. never ridden in conyers. never been to Tsali for that matter.

not familiar with Juhan or Al's. are they known by any other names?

Howdy Granny Gear:

Welcome!

I'm a bit south of all of the metro Atlanta folks - I'm down in Warner Robins.

Welcome to the Forums, Granny Gear.

If I see someone at Blankets Creek on a Fuel I'll say hello, but I don't think I'll call them Granny.

and i even spelled it correctly!
you + all = y'all (not ya'll)
impressive huh? but don't get me started on the origins of my grandmother's favorite southern contraction "y'uns"

thanks Aemon and Bikedud!

btw Bikedud... last night i was looking for a pic that I could post on this site. unfortunately, my wife and I are not quite into the digital age - all the pix of me and my bike are kodak paper instead of the hard-drive. whenever i get a pic, i'll post it so you can recognize me on sight!

hope to see you on the trails!

Welcome Granny-

My wife is from North Carolina and I ride out on the parkway a lot, but I too have not made it to Tsali on my MTB. I hear the trails are terrific.

Oh, yeah, by the way. Everybody to the limit. (based on your pic, I think you'll know what I mean.)

Sounds like you should hang around Buckhead more often. No ever let me demo a Waterford. ;)

Someday soon(?) we are supposed to get an Atlanta area BikeForums group together and ride the Silver Comet Trail. Maybe you can join us.
