View Full Version : business meetings
Hi,
I have a business meeting to go to downtown. Unfortunatly I wont know the bike parking situation until I get there.
What do you do when you get somewhere with no rack to lock your bike up to. Do you just find some random fence, ask to bring it inside?
Thoughts
Thanks

Yes.
I typically lock my bike to parking meters, stop signs, and signs that say where and when autos can't be parked.

Maybe you could bring the BIKE inside, but I don't think that they would let you bring the fence inside. LOL

What kind of meeting? If it's imprortant, maybe a cab...?
When I go to meetings outside of my regular place of work, I just lock up the bike wherever. If it's a REALLY important meeting, I wouldn't bring it inside and ask about storage; that just makes you look like a person who can't make decisions on your own... If it's a meeting where you have to wear a suit and don't know if you'll be able to change clothes easily, I'd just go ahead and take the bus to the meeting.

I lock to a random fence, as long as it looks secure. Nobody ever knows I even showed up on a bike unless they just happen to see me pull up. Unless its some type of environmental meeting, i wouldn't even bother broadcasting the fact that I showed up by bike, it takes too much attention away from whatever you came there for.
thanks for the advice, the meeting is only 2 miles from my regular office so id feel wierd about takibng a cab ( i can probably ride in my suit without getting sweaty). I might even walk if its nice outside.
Take your bike.
Doesn't the building have a garage? What do their emplyees that drive do with their cars?
Call up the building and ask them if they have a parking garage. If they do, park your bike there.
There's always something to lock to. Even a sewer grate if all else fails.
