Mountain Biking - What other activities are you into?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I started racing BMX at age 11 and have always been involved with cycling in one way or another. However, I've always found other sports/activities that I enjoy and help keep my mind fresh. Plus, it's sometimes a good break from cycling.
I enjoy mechanics, so I bought a 1970 Chevy K10 Pick-up. It's a 4x4 and I'm planning on restoring it. I've already rebuilt the whole drivetrain and brake system. I installed front disc brakes and new rear drum brakes. All new(used) front and rear axles, new drive-shafts...etc.
I also spent a lot of time involved in water sports. I did a lot of water-skiing. I was very involved with Windsurfing for a number of years. I Scuba Dive. I surf. I love to sail. I'd like to try kite-surfing, but need to learn to use a stunt kite first.
The reason I bring this up, is that now, with my Wife and Son, I decided to buy a tandemn kayak. Picked it up last night. I can't wait to take it on it's maiden voyage this weekend.
I decided on an Ocean Kayak Cabo. Lime Green with blue hawaiian print seatbacks. The shop didn't have a set of matching paddles that I like, so they're on order. I'll post a pic when I get everything together.
So, what does everyone else do other than cycling?

I SCUBA dive too. I'd love to get into Kayaking.
i loves lots of outdoor sports.
hiking, camping, rock/sport climbing
kart racing, street racing
snooker, wind surfing, kayaking
and... MTB-ing... :p
When I'm not on my bike, I'm usually working at my computer. I'm one of the few people I know who's career is in computers, but don't mind spending extra time on them for fun, or recreation. Web design, A/V production, backend programming, I enjoy it all

4x4 in my little Ranger, Photography (I love that), Video Editing (Mountain Bike of course), and building (MTB Stunts.. :) )
So more-or-less something to do with Mountain Biking. I got into photography and video editing when I was broken, or In Repair, and couldn't ride.. and then they just stuck. I gotta say, Biking is my life!

Im in the same boat as you right now with photography. I took a class this quarter on photography and it was fun. I have always had interest in it but never got around to trying it until recently. Now that my wrist is broken and I wont be able to start racing this year Im going to buy myself a vamera tommorow and photograph the races. I think it will be a good way for me to get into a new hobby and enjoy the outdoors at the same time while my wrist is gimped out.
Otherwise, I have snowboarded for 8 years, but I am loosing interest due to bad snow years and mountain biking. I am an avid outdoors person and love to backpack in the backcountry and camp in general. I also love fly fishing for trout, salmon and steelhead, as well as hunting for pheasant, quail and duck.
I would actually love to do any sport, extreme or not in the outdoors, but thats just a matter of time and money. Im not much of an indoor, or organized sport kinda guy, but I did play baseball for 12 years as a kid and was quite good at it.

With 2 dogs at home, I go "dog park-ing" a lot. I also play the didgeridoo, and like to beat on hand drums. Winter time I snowboard. Play soccer when I can. Some of my favorite things are: wandering aimlessly through the forest, climb trees, write, read, learn, volunteer at the humane society. Of course riding my bike is my very favorite.

Ice hockey 2 or 3 times a week, windsurf when it blows (very seldom in S. FL), scuba dive during lobster season, and darts / drinking when it rains. I think kite-boarding is the next thing because it takes less wind and just looks cool.

I break more stuff playing soccer than I do mountain biking. Last night, I sheared two cleats off of my shoes.
Also like basketball, do a bit of reading.
Once I have the money for decent gear, I'll probably get into weekend backpacking, or maybe canoing (sp?).
Other than that, I enjoy almost anything outdoors.
I'm a sports freak. I like watching sports (basketball, baseball, football, tennis, soccer, ...), but I'd rather be playing them. I also play a lot of Frisbee. And, of course, I wouldn't be here if I didn't mountain bike.
During the winter, I like to snowboard mostly. I also lift weights year round, in order to keep in shape.
When I'm not outside, I do lots of things on the computer. I graduated with a Computer Science degree, so I like to program. And last, but definitely not least, I love video games (probably too much).

I downhill ski in the winter (thats my main sport). I also race Nitro powered Radio controled cars ((1/8 and super 1/10). I like to build stuff out of metal or anything, i like to make and fiddle around with things. Im also into Air-Cooled Volkswagens(i'm restoring a 74 super at the moment) and i do a little Auto-X from time to time (also called Solo-2). I also just like to be outdoors hiking, climbing or playing around with friends...ect. Im on the computer a lot but i dont like to be, i use it to get information on the things im into, there are a lot of good deals and info online at the click of the mouse.
One last thing i like to do is, well.... nothing at all. somtimes it's great to just take a day off from everything and chill.
Jonathan
You name it, I've done it.
Mountain biking is my primary activity, but I love to camp, swim, fish, party...
I'm also into computer a LOT... I'm a forum junky. A big chunk of my time is spent on the internet. When I'm bored and can't ride.. I'm in front of the computer.

Other then cycling, I enjoy playing with computers, and running this forum. I have also been paragliding a half dozen times, and hope to become a pilot as soon as i can afford the training and gear. I don't see that happening this year.
Airsoft (best sport/game ever), cycling, computers (forums, i also have built a few and look forward to maybe having my own PC business when im older), i have four dogs and three cats, so i like to frolick with them from time to time. Plenty of others, sitting around with my mates with a few beers is also a favorite.

i work with computers (software developer) so i get enough computer time at work and only spend a few hours a week on the computer... the rest of the time i am outdoors - at best doing sports in the mountains!
i do almost any sport outdoors that invloves active work or aerobic activity: mountain biking, rock climbing, alpine skiing, snowboarding, hiking, mountain climbing, ice climbing, ski touring, xc skiing... i love mountains!!!
plus some other sports: volleyball, rollerblading, running, soccer, ultimate frisbee, racketball/squash, occaisonal basketball, occaisonal swimming
plus some water sports, although less here in Germany: kayaking (flatwater and whitewater, although i sold my boat 2 years ago when i moved) - used to water ski and wake board a lot in texas... plus a little windsurfing and surfing although i'm a beginner at both
plus i lift weights about 2 days/week
i am a mountain bike guide and spend a lot of my time leading others on mountain bike tours - leading a 9-day ride across the Alps in August!
