I know you weren't there as two races were cancelled and today's Deer Creek race was low attended due to cold and windy conditions.

Our cat 3 race had 12 riders and we were paired up with the cat 1/2/3's, which also had 12 riders. The wind was really bad on long section of the 12 mile loop and each time I got out of line I paid for it. Paid for it one too many times and lost contact with the field in an instant. A 2 man break won it, followed by a 5 man break followed by 3 more riders. I think everyone else gave up. At one point into the headwind I was riding as hard as possible only to look down and see a pathetic 10.0mph on the computer.

don't feel bad, i got run off the road in the 4/5 race and got so frustrated that i just gave up. i was so mad on the ride home from the race, thankfully beter now. that headwind was nuts though.

Yeah, we bagged it when we saw the forecast on Saturday. We didn't want to risk the 2 hour drive and have a cancellation so we went out to recon the Rabbit Hash course today. As brutal as the wind was in the hills, I can only imagine what it was like in the flats around Deer Creek. I commend you for manning up and racing.

not that i can think of. there are some great teams up there though. stark velo has a couple of races up there (zoar and valley city) and i think savage hill is based up there. actually, now that i think about it, one of the guys from savage hill was on the baords last year, but i haven't seen him yet racing this year.

Savage Hill is from Columbus. I don't know of anyone in the NE OH area that posts here.

I don't think Savage Hill is active any more. My understanding is that the new Olympus Homes team is what Savage became.
I did the Power Man of Ohio race last year at Malabar Farms and there were some northern Ohio teams present. Stark Velo, as mentioned, was there and a team from Orville looked pretty strong. There was also a Cleveland team but I can't remember the name.

I think you're right about SH. I haven't seen any of them this year, and their site is down.

that stinks. if nothing else, that sight had some decent scouting reports of the races.

The remainder of savage hill, who didn't go to A&F or Echelon became Phoenix. I don't think there is an actual "team" yet, just an idea of what they are.

Summit Freewheelers and Stark Velo are from the north east. Scott Thor from SV posts on several power related forums.

Dunno about Cleveland, but the Summit Freewheelers do a little racing and a lot of training down this way.
