Mountain Biking - at last Z1

Hi all

At last today i got my Z1dropoff fitted. Unfortunately the bad news is that i need a new brake line so for the moment i dont have a front brake ...hopefully in Friday i ll get a goodridge one delivered. I was able to test the fork on street riding back home. I slammed it at pavements up and down...and i realised that the curbs just werent there for the fork....awesome outof the box. Colossal stiffness...i almost feel riding a rigid fork when i accelerate out of the saddle...hardly any disturbing bob at all. The ETA works a bit strange for starters....instead of compressing the fork 10cm down leaving only 3cm of travel it compresses it 3cm only. The guy at the lbs told me that the valves and oil and seals are veeeery stiff and dont work properly at all and that after the break in period everything will work by the book.(is that the case? i am new to marzocchi so i dont have a clue about breakin periods). Anyhow from this small taste i got i am really impressed...its worth double the price i paid...i really hope though that the ETA will get as promised after the break in period.

With eta the more you turn it the further it locks it down. Sorry but I don't know specifically how the eta works as with ecc you lock it, push on the fork and it locks into the lowest position. Although I have to say I find ecc to be useless for my riding. :)

Just asking because if it is supposed to work perfectly from the beginning then i should get it back now that is soon enough.

If I were you I would just ride and stop worrying about the the fork, and then after a week or so if the "ETA" isnt working "perfectly" then get it looked at.

Marz does have a work in period. I forget how long but there fork doesn't feel perfect out of the box. :)

Mael ETA works differently. Basically is keeps the fork compressed leaving only 30mm of usable travel.It is an on-off thing. The lbs guy told me that the more the fork beds in the more it will compress...and eventually it will reach the point that only 30mm of travel will be left. Now the fork is brand new and with the ETA i can get it compressed for about 30mm with 100mm left uncompressed...the other way around than it was supposed to be.... Anyway i hope that its only an issue of break in period. BTW there is a tiny scratch on the crown surface...but it seems like a scratch since its a surface thing that you can feel by touch rather than something like a crack which you cant feet by hand

Well marz does have a work in period. Odd though my ecc (which is very similar to eta but with less travel in locked out position) worked fine out of the box even though I don't use it :)

Well the thing works...meaning that when i unlock it the fork pops up in its normal travel...its just that instead of having compress 95 to 100mm it compresses much less.

Cool...lovely feature I just wish I has some trails here I would find it useful on :)

Anyway...i hope to get some info from any ETA users...thanks guys
