Congrates on your finish at the mudfest :D . However, you might see that guy from
Ohio one more time. The Race to the Hills, WVMBA # 10 is held in Ohio and is also a
combined race. But that is it. Keep up the good work.

Hey LC, how did you finish. By the time I swept the whole course, I caugh up to the last
guy and didn't get off the trail till going on 5pm. They already had the sheets down. Scott24
said he thought you got 5th. Did you have any brakes left when you got done? I sure didn't.
However, the ole' foot in the rear tire still works like a charm :D

Lowcel - The kid picked up either a long sleeve shirt or a camelbak for you - let him know which you want..... Are you warm yet?

Sounds like it was a mudfest (much like last year), in which case I'm not sorry I missed it. Hopefully Big Bear will be better.

ODN - yeah I finished up fifth. Not too bad considering that was only the forth time I've been on a mtb since November. I'm still a little dissapointed in myself though. :(

I'm going to check my brake pads this evening. Considering that on a couple of the downhills my brakes were barely slowing me down I either have no pads left or really need to bleed my brakes.

apclassic9 - Tell the kid that I'll take which ever one he doesn't want. I'm not picky. :D I don't believe I ever got completely warm last night. I think I was cold and wet all the way to the bone.

kmoses - It was definitely a mudfest. All in all if you were going to miss one this was probably a good one to skip. Will we be seeing you at big bear next weekend?

Oh yeah, a buddy of mine sent me his file from his Garmin 205 for the race. We did 3,337 feet of climbing during the race. Considering all of the mud it's no wonder I'm hurting today. Here is a link (http://trail.motionbased.com/trail/invitation/dashboard.mb?episodePk.pkValue=2481889) to his data.

I plan on being at big bear, but its not definite since we close on our house tomorrow and need to prep it next weekend (new paint and carpet) for heather to move into soon. If I'm there it won't be much of a race for me. My epic hasn't seen my butt since Christmas. I love big bear. Even if I end up mising it there's always the marathon race there in September.

brake question
during the race my marta sl started working oddly. When I pull the brake lever in it doesn't spring back to the orginal position it stays stuck with the brakes on, i have to push it forward to release the brakes.

Seems to be a common theme among Marta SL owners (see the reviews on MTBR). Pivot bushings seems to be easily susceptible to gunking up - - conditions you had this weekend were probably prime for that. Does make me wonder if the return springs inside the master cyclinders are weak.

i was wondering if there is like a spring that goes with the brake pads. on the shimano xtr there is a spring that pushes the pads back. it seems nobody had this problem on mtbr.

A lot of times with the Marta's you can spray some type of spray lube / cleaner (wd-40 type) into where the lever is and keep working it and it will eventually clean itself out and start working properly again. You can give Magura a call and they can give you the details on how to do it if that doesn't work.

I pm'd your mom and told her how I got the pictures. If you don't figure it out or have the program let me know and I can get yours tomorrow. Just do me a favor and pm me the picture numbers so I don't have to search through all of them again.

my rear rotor it is bent out of place by 1/2 cm. I fix my brakes they work great other than the bent rotor. i think i'm going to get a 140mm rotor to replace it any suggestions.

oh and my rear wheel is bent

3,337 feet of climbing ! Wow, now I can understand my knees hurting.... I checked out your
friends link. That's a pretty neat feature. Thanks LC.

I'm from Cincy and drove out for that race, it was AWESOME!! I ended up 12th in sport senior, started cramping about 3 miles from the finish and got passed by group of 5 riders! so I feel like I should have done better, got another race locally on Sunday and its going to be in th 70's, I'm hoping for a top 5 finish, we'll see!
