Nice cranks, but I agree, that's nuts-

Those are pretty nice. But not totally mint. I have a pair of XC Pro Cantelevers. Won't trade them for anything. I actually bought them on ebay from some guy who had a huge stash in Manila.

I can't believe that bidding war. I see XC Pro cranksets on eBay all the time. Absolutely nuts, you'd think this was the only set on Earth. I'd better hire an armed escort for my XC Pro equipped bike...

Yeah....I think I remember that's his name. I got it a couple or 3 years ago. I do like my Shimano 2 finger levers and thumb shifters so I didn't change those. My last MTB racing bike was a very small Cannondale with XC pro on it. Stolen from a Brooklyn tenament back ohhhh around '91 or so. Ahh, the early days of Norba.

"This crankset is my very last one."

The bidders must think that's the only set left anywhere!

BTW... I got one of his earlier sets for only $75! :D

I've had a sort of sneaking suspicion that he's got a factory in China cranking these things out. Not that I haven't bought several SunTour barcons from him, and lasciviously eyed his SunTour cantilevers...

You think they're the real thing, and in a warehouse?

Bidder One: I have more money than brains!

Bidder Two: No, *I* have more money than brains!

Bidder One: Oh yeah? Well, we'll see about that!

Mine came with real Suntour packaging and paperwork. I was in the PI last year and people I saw riding had pretty much what I had on bikes back in the late 80's and early 90's. But those are just the ones I saw.

Mine came with real Shimano packaging and paperwork..Well, if your SunTour cantilevers came with REAL Shimano packaging and paperwork, then they're beyond suspicion...

I believe this is old stock from his closed bike shop in Independence, MO. He did the mid-80s update of my LeJeune. I still am using all the parts he put on it on one bike or another.

He he. Dang typos! I was thinking XC pro thumb shifters when I was typing Shimano thumb shifters.
Too much cleaning fluid over the years :)

Didn't know XC-Pro was THAT hot. Got almost a full groupo used across five different bikes including levers on the beater/townie. Trashed my cranks though or else I'd be rich! Actually I am not crazy about the cantilever brakes and but the pedals are great (greaseguard!). The plastic covers on my brake levers are peeling off too. Gave away the bb on with my XO-1 sale (where I had most of the stuff insalled).

The pedals are fantastic!

These are going on the light touring frame I'm building:

Yes! Never gonna give them up. Got them at Nashbar for $20.00 when they were dumping the XC-Pro stuff for nothing. I've used them on my winter beater through mud, rain, and nasty snow. Still spinning smooth as butter. Waste a lot of grease though keeping it up.
