Am an australian mammalian taking in chicago for a while.
Ride a trek fuel mountain bike and a marin commuter and am
on the path of cyclocross purchasing.

love urban biking (best thing about living in a city)
and totally amped to start racing cyclocross.

Welcome! I am a great fan of urban biking myself. :) Your best bets for good info on that subject are Commuting, Living Car Free, and General. You can get a lot out of the Fixie forum as well if you look for it, and there are Rat Patrolers (http://www.chicagofreakbike.org/) posting on Alt Bikes. What they don't know about urban biking in Chicago isn't worth discussing. Enjoy.
