Southern California - RAAM donations...THANK YOU!!!

I have to say thank you to Karen and Trac' who both recently donated to our expense fund!! I know that there are others who have as well, THANK YOU!!!!!!!

This is an incredibly expensive event to fund and it seems that more and more unexpected expenses are popping up as we move forward. We're finally on our way to assembling a full crew, thanks to Bike Forums members who have both donated their own time to crew with us, and those who have spread the word for us. We're looking to expand the crew after talking to some RAAM veterans who think we are crazy to try to do it with just six, and of course...that means more $$!

BTW, do crew members need to be following all along the way? Can you have "stationed members" that pop up to help when you reached their city/town?

Our latest addition to the crew is chimivee, and we've all been impressed by his eye for photography. Needless to say, we are THRILLED to have him on board. We will have a laptop with us and we're hoping to have a blog that will be updated daily from the road (if there is time) so you should all be able to follow along with us. :)

We have no idea when we will hit the different cities, so we're looking for crew that can make the commitment to go the whole way with us.

Thank you Karen!! We're all very excited. George and I were a little overwhelmed when we met with these RAAM veterans last week, there is just so much that goes into making something like this work. Every little bit that people can donate helps out. :)

I wanted to thank all of you for supporting me on this difficult challenge. I wish that it was as easy as "just riding my bike" but the financial aspect plays a big part in bringing this all together. We have a great crew forming, all of whom have come to us from Bike Forums, either as members or as a result of members recruiting for us. Your donations to our expense fund have and will make a huge difference in the way that we are able to race this event. So Cal Bike Forums members are really coming through for us, I can't tell you how much we appreciate this! We've had some major expenses come up in the last few days (finding out we need a third vehicle to shuttle riders/crew from follow vehicle to motorhome...and then the $$ for gas for said vehicle and $$ for food to feed the extra crew) and flat broke doesn't even cut it when it comes to our current budget. This really helps. You're all the bestestestest!!!! :)

I am glad all us SoCalers can kind of live this experience on a daily basis. We hear about it now with the recruiting, planning, and hearing of George’s training. As the event nears it will just get more exciting. During the event the entire community will be pinned to their computers yearning for each update on what has been called the toughest race in the world.
