Just got done with my bike fitting. I purchased a 53cm Bianchi road bike and decided it was important to be fitted properly. Well being 5'11 - I pretty much maxed out the size. Had the seat put well back, needed a longer stem, also with a higher angle. I was surprized how important the cleat fitting was. I was all over with the movement in and out while peddling. After the adjustments, I felt really locked in with smooth rotation. Glad I had it done, anyone else have this done - or reccomend it?

Why did you go with the smaller frame? Sounds like you really needed a bigger one. Small frames are nice and light and stiff, but, unless you like a really aero-position, you end up with loads of stem rise, and a short head-tube.

On one hand, the frame does seem a little small to me...I am two inches shorter, but use a bigger frame! On the other, fit is vital for your enjoyment of the bike. A proper fit lets you ride longer and more comfortably, and also lets you generate maximum energy without excessive wear and tear on your joints! I think proper fit is very important, and if the short frame works for you, go for it!

I really like the size of the frame. The stem that is being replaced is not a huge height and length difference. I asked about going to extreme on the size of the bike and my size. With the stem being a touch longer and a touch higher the bike got me spread out perfect and it feels really nice.
