exactly that. don't know which way to go. fisher kaitai w/ drops and aero hoods ss mod with magic gear, or bianchi san jose. i really like the discs and the lockout fork on the kaitai, but the san jose is a lot easier and more road bike-y. any opinions either way?

i know the spec on the fisher is kinda crappy, but i won't be using the shifter/derailleurs or cranks. who knows. would be for commuting and racing cross. either way, can't wait.

Do you already own the Kaitai? If not, then I'd say go with the SJ.
The Kaitai costs more to start, and then you'd have to do an S-load of modifications and $$ to get it to do what you want.

You don't need a suspension for for commuting or racing, and if you want disc brakes, it'd be easier to swap out the San Jose's front wheel and fork, and run disc front, canti rear.

really leaning towards kaitai with a road triple and a bar end in the front w/ a dummy derailleur and a single gear in the back. that would be fun, i think. i'd like to to a touch of trail (mtb) riding with it as well. i think it'd be the better choice. i'll have to ride them both and see what i think. i don't know how set on only having one gear i am. (coming from ss/fixed, so that's not the issue. i just don't wnat to be changing cogs/freewheels and rings depending on what terrain i'm riding.)
