Recumbent tire/wheel recommendations?

hey all! I have had some difficulty finding a good resource for recumbent tires. The usual Nashbar/Performance Bike/JensonUSA big shops dont seem to have much around. What kind of tires are you using on your bent? Looking for a 26" and a 20" x 1.5... Schwalbe seems to be pretty popular, but which model, and where to buy? For a SWB Haluzak Horizon. Looking for a new wheelset, something decently light, and preferably black in color... Any ideas? Thanks again for the recommendations!

I upgraded my Giro 20 to Velocity Thracian wheelset and Schwalbe Marathon Racers. I saw a pretty significant increase in speed with good comfort factor. Too new to tell but they should have good puncture resistance too. Calhoun Cycle in twin cities was my source. Wheelset was on sale there and may still be.

Two sources for recumbent bike parts are Gaerlan Custom Cycles in Squaw Valley, CA and Poweron Cycling in Florida. The websites are www.gaerlan.com and www.poweroncycling.com. Both stores serve recument bike builders so they carry a variety of tires. I've bought items from both and was satisfied with the prices and the service.

I'm a big fan of their Marathon-series tires.

Light is not a term applied to bent wheels, there is almost no choice once you go below 650 sized
wheels, at least a choice that makes a difference. Velocity wheels are always a good choice and
they are available as rims or wheels. The major variances are in rim width for tires ranging from
25mm upto 35+ mm. Secondary variances are in aero cross section, but these are mostly minor
below 650 sized.

Calhoun Cycle and Hostel Shoppe have good tires and wheel selection. Velocity seems to be the big name in aftermarket wheelsets. If you want carbon wheels, try Aerospoke. I like the Schwalbe tires. I have two sets of the discontinued Marathon Slicks I can use. I've got a Specialized Nimbus Armadillo on the back right now, and I like it's ride and flat protection.

Every once in a while, Nashbar will have a 20"/406 tire on sale. Hostelshoppe, as mentioned previously, has a huge selection and fast service. I'm running on Comet Primo Kevlars, 20x1.35 front and 20x1.5 rear.
