I have been thinking of wearing a weighted vest while doing bag work and some other indoor CV work.

I have never used one so I could use some recommendations on the purchase and use of the vest. I would like one that has removable wieghts and can fasten snugly. I also would like to keep the price below 100USD.

If you use one:

When do you wear it ?

How much weight do you use and how much did you start with ?

What to look for in a new vest ?

Where is a good place to pick one up ?

On a similar note, who weighs down their bike for hill training? I have been thinking of keeping my panniers full of like 30-40 lbs and conquering some big hills.

Well, coz I'm poorish, I use my motocycle chain and lock when going anywhere on the pushbike - it's an Abus Granit, and weighs 11lbs - you feel it.... :)

Roll on payday, so I can replace it with a Kryponite ULock.

Eric Wohlberg of the Saturn Team who rides around here is known to put a big-@ss weight under the bottom bracket of his bike and does training rides up Old La Honda Rd. I read a post elsewhere that said his bike weighs about 40-45 lbs set up like that.

I've used a vest during a few ice hockey camps to try to increase my speed, I've also skated with a small parachute strapped to me. Personally, I didn't think it work very well, it was more of a mental thing that you felt lighter for a few minutes afterwords, but no long term progression.
