General Cycling Discussion - Anyone use the Carbon Fiber FSA Team Issue cranks??

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I am thinking of swapping out my Ultegra crankset for the FSA.
Opinions?
Thanks,

They are great!!! The cost compared to other carbon cranks is very good and I think they look better. I believe I can feel a difference with them, but I will admit it is probably 90% psycological.
I have the FSAs on my favorite home brewed bike, as well as the Ultegras on my Lightspeed. I honestly cannot tell much difference in feel. The bike with the FSA is overall little lighter, steel frame, and feels very good. The FSAs do scratch very easily and loose some of the luster, but I cannot complain about anything else. These are certainly a pleasure, but I would change other components before I would get to the cranks.
I don't have the Team cranks but I do have the older Carbon Pro cranks (the Teams have carbon spiders whereas the Pros are just aluminum) and they are simply wonderful. I too wouldn't say I could feel the difference but the cost differential between mine and Dura-Ace cranks which I had swapped out of the build-kit was minor. Bargainwise, they can't be beat. That can be said of FSA's other components too. The Team cranks look just as good or better than the Campy carbon cranks which cost twice as much. FSA is just right down the street from the bikeshop I normally go to and FSA's owner often pops in to shoot the breeze. He apparently was quite amazed and a little apalled to see his cranks on lower cost bikes. "Those cranks shouldn't be on $500 bikes! They should be on bikes that cost over $1000!"

I have them on my Marinoni and they are just great. I agree with some of the other posters that the feel is likely mostly in my mind but that works for me so why not! They sure look good and they are much lighter than other cranks and that is always a plus.
I say go for it!
