Southern California - Recommended Southern CA bike shops

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Sorry if this has been beaten to death in the past.... I couldn't find anything that covered this question though.

I am visiting LA for a few days and would like to check out a few of the local shops. Any recommendations? LA or OC would be preferred.

Thanks.

Off the top of my head...

Cynergy Cycles, Santa Monica (Specialized and Bianchi)
Helen's, Santa Monica (nice bikes, lousy service)
Surf City Cyclery, Huntington Beach
Nytro, Encinitas (triathlete's version of Disneyland)
InCycle, Pasadena/San Dimas

Also a Helen's in Arcadia on Huntington Dr.

Roadie's Disneyland, too. Be sure to leave your credit card at home.

After buying Vivian there, I've stayed away from that place. It's way too tempting to pick up more toys there. Who couldn't use a nice Pinarello or a Soloist Carbon SL? Visiting their website is bad enough for my financial health; I couldn't resist buying Zero Gravity brakes from their website. (Hey... it was on sale.) And staring at their closeout wheelsets at the end of the year, I resisted buying anything, but it had the Spinergy on my mind, and when LowCel sold his, I just couldn't resist anymore. I'll refrain from posting a link (you can find it easily enough) so that I'm not a party to your financial ruin.

If you must go with your credit card, though, George (Vireo on BikeForums) is someone whose advice and opinions on the products I trust. I'll be going straight to him the next time I splurge on a nice bike.

I like Hi Tech Bikes, in San Diego. But I spend too much money there.

The Old Bike Shop in Hermosa Beach. Very small shop but the owner is eager to please and their mechanic knows his stuff. Bought my DeRosa from there. Too bad its little far from me to give them all my business.

Thanks All. Some really good suggestions here. I will pop into a few of these stores and see if I can spur the Southern CA economy forward another notch...
