I have used my EL530 a coule of times since I got it and it worked fine. I put it away for about a month and then went to use it and it does not work.
I have a 40 pack of AA's for my sons toys and took some new batteries out to try different ones to see if that was the problem...NOPE. Still no light. Could the bulb have gone out? I can't see how to change it (if possible) I may need to call Nashbar where I got it. How are they with exchanges?

This may be worth a try: cleaning and very lightly abrading the contact points (on the batteries where they contact the metal pieces inside the light, and those metal pieces themselves). Using steel wool for this is one approach.
Sometimes a very thin film forms over time and prevents the metals from being in real contact.

I have an HL-EL530 that suddenly stopped working not too long after I bought it. After calling the Cateye warrantee hotline, I sent it to them to repair or replace. I haven't gotten it back yet and probably won't for another month but, except for the expected turnaround time, they seemed pretty good about the whole thing. I would try to get Nashbar to replace it but if they won't, then talk to Cateye about it.
