Don't kid yourself. After blowing $50 on the frame you'll have to get the fork, cranks, bottombracket, pedals, wheels, V-brakes, brake pads, tires, tubes, handlebar, stem, headset, seat, handlebar pads, brake levers, cables, cable housing, chain, derailleurs, shifters plus the racks and accessories that you want for something that will be "world tour ready."

Much better value buying a funcational used bicycle that needs little replacements.

Something like a Trek 930, 950, 970, 990 that was barely ridden would be nice.

You live in So. Cal. These types of used MTB are a dime a dozen. Just check your local craigslist.

Also, I'm a recovering beater bicycleholic. Why have two or three beater bikes, when you can have one superior bicycle??? Quality my friend. Not quanity. Besides, you can only ride one bike at a time, why not make it the best that you can afford?

I also have the Bianchi San Jose that I am going to put a Nexus rear hub on so my girlfriend can tour with it.

I am interested in this Nashbar frame to build up a trekking bike that can handle some of the offroad stuff that I wouldn't take the Surly on. I'm also interested in it over an older Trek because of a few reasons....

1.Disc brake mounts
2.1 1/8" headset, I don't like quill stem designs
3.I'd want to replace all those old parts on a Trek anyways
