First, and introduction (in case it is needed):

I live in portland OR but am originally from Santa Cruz CA. Back in the SC we had a bike advocacy group title people power. it was an amazing non-profit group that was very active and vocal in the community.

Second, Question No. 1:
Does anyone know of this organization?
Third, Question No. 2:

Does anyone know if there are any north west chapters, specifically in Portland?

thanks all

Do you have a link to a web site for this group?

Never heard of People Power, but we've got some great groups in Portland worthy of getting involved with. Roody posted a link for Bike Portland (http://bikeportland.org/index.php), and the links section there is the best place to get started. That site is truly the nerve center for all things bicycle here. The Bicycle Transportation Alliance (http://www.bta4bikes.org/) is our main advocacy group. They're a bit on the mainstream side (although one of the staffers there did shave Sharrows on her head recently :D), but they do a lot. You also have to keep in mind that for the most part our city government (http://www.portlandonline.com/transportation/index.cfm?&c=34772) supports us like no other largish city I've heard of in North America. They are holding rides once a month (http://www.portlandonline.com/transportation/index.cfm?c=34816&a=147283) to get ideas for rewriting the next Bicycle Master Plan. You should come. There are all sorts of bikey people from all walks of life attending, and we have fun. Then there's Shift (http://www.shift2bikes.org/). It's more about "bike fun" than advocacy, but I can assure you that in many ways, they get bikes more positive exposure than anyone else.

We've just begun "Bike Season" here in town, so now's a great time to get involved!
